It's about that time for win supreme vs double x.

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, IT IS A DIFFERENT SHELL AND I CANT BELIEVE YALL FALL FOR THAT CRAP.

It has got to be something in the air.....

I actually made a video of cutting 2 shells open last year after that whole debate.

So the shells are different - different amount of buffer, different wadding material, and looks like different powder. Any of these can change the performance of the shells. I've been thinking about starting to load my own for consistency.

I don't know if the buffer varies among shells or if the new ones all have less. I only checked one of each shell. The only real difference I saw was part of the wad, one being paper and one being felt, which I doubt makes any difference. Powder looks the same to me but I don't have a means to weigh it. The shells seem to perform the same as well.

I always used the supreme XX magnums until I switched to Hevi Shot. I didn't buy Hevi Shot this year. It patterns the best for my set up. I did shoot those Turkey Thug Federal shells about 2 years ago when I was trying to reline my gun. They shot plenty good enough for hunting so I bought them this year. I've spent too much money on calls and toys. [emoji4]

Seemingly small differences like that can cause noticable differences in performance and patterns. Often times it doesn't, but sometimes it does. I agree that the "double x" is just the old supreme rebranded, but there is no doubt that factory shells can vary from year to year or even lot to lot.
