Opening day here in NE TN they are calling for 20 to 30 mph winds. I'd rather hunt in a monsoon than wind.

Here in Middle TN they're saying 10-20 mph winds, not as bad as where you are but it still sucks. I wanted a nice, calm morning to hear gobbles and hear things walking around. Oh well, at least the temperatures are going to be awesome.

I'd rather hunt while having the flu then hunt in the wind. NOTHING is worse then turkey hunting in high winds. It's the ultimate kick in the nuts

I will deal with it, will just be glad to be in the woods.

I hate wind and usually won't go, but in the steep mtns I hunt I can usually escape it. Nothing worse IMO then wind

Wind on Plateau and in mid TN is only forecast for 5-15 mph. You won't get any better than that on a spring day. Plus, that isn't sustained, and probably won't even pick up until mid-morning.

I'm seeing single digit wind in the morning. Right around lunchtime it goes into double digits and the forecast shows 15mph in the afternoon. I hate that but like Catman said, it's always good to be in the woods. By that time, 90% of the hunters there for flydown will be gone with or without a bird. It will be tough to hear gobbles but at least I'll have a lot less of a crowd to deal with as I sneak around.

Being of flat land, swamp hunter blood, we always despised wind. I've learned here in these SE Tn mountains, there is always somewhere to get out of it. Might have to adjust my listening spot in the morning though. Just made a batch of turkey salad from my last hunk of an Alabama gobbler breast. Mayo, red onion, celery and a little homemade chow-chow. Salt and pepper, along with a little celery salt. Should get me through the next 3 days of hunting, at least. Can't freakin wait till first light and lunchtime :)
Now that sounds good!

What do you guys consider windy?
With little to no foliage, I like it to be less than 15, and ideally less than 10. With foliage (which makes things louder and more distracting), I really want it to stay less than 10mph if possible. If not, I just deal with it and do the best I can with the cards I am dealt.

Weatherbug is showing the wind here being at 4 MPH at 7, increasing to 9 MPH by noon, then 13 MPH at 5.
same here, that's not windy at all, just a decent breeze in the afternoon.

It does make it a lot easier to sneak up on em though!!! As long as they're in the right spot that is..

I checked it again and now there is a freeze warning and on the 10 day forecast it still says 20 to 30 mph winds but the hourly forecast says the wind will not blow over 10 mph till after 10am. It's looking better tho. I'm just glad it's finally here.
