My wife is wanting to get a bow. I think this is great, but what's the best bow for the money. Since she will only shoot with me around the yard.

She has a 26 inch draw length... I'd say she could easily pull 50 lbs. Any ideas?

My fiance shoots and has been doing a little hunting with me. We was gonna get her a hoyt but we didnt to spend a whole lot of money, thinking she might not like it. We got her a Reflex Excursion. Its actually a really nice bow and it come with everything she needed for around 325! but we got it from Tom Redmond Outdoors and I dont think they are in business anymore. Might find one on ebay or acherytalk pretty cheap

Now THAT's a pretty tough gal! :)
I've seen few women that could "easily" pull more than about 35 to 40 lbs, at least starting out.

But if all she's going to do is target shoot, why not go with a lighter poundage, which she could pull even more easily, and shoot even more accurately?

You need to let her go shoot some bows to get the correct draw length and find out what she can pull. If she will just be shooting around the house, I wouldn't go over 40 pound limbs. It would be great if there was a shootlikeagirl clinic near by. They set up all kinds of bows for women and let them try them out. That may be something you want to check on.

She MAY work her way into bow hunting with me, that's why I wanted to get something that will have good KE. I know her draw length is 26 inches.. Arm span divided by 2.5 equals draw length correct?

She can pull my 65lb. bow back. tough little lady! How much speed could you get out of a 40-50lb. bow?

i bought my fiance a pse chaos 40-50 pound. It is a 2 cam bow that is crazy fast i am starting her at 42 pounds entil she shoots a little more then will slowly go up.i have found that pse usually max out higher then they say on the peak poundage as well.the bow has a ibo rating of 278-286 the 286 is probably 27in draw at 50 pounds. Also the new line of pse produce more ke then most every bow out.I paid 240 to my door on ebay for a bare bow,but know for 301 plus shipping you can get one ready to shoot all day on ebay.ANd they come in pink camo lol Just throwing another option out there

:D She likes realtree AP. We will get her a lower poundage bow, it would be nice if we had shootlikeagirl clinic somewhere close like mentioned above.

Go to ArcheryTalk.Com

Go to their classified forum.

Try and find her a BowTech Equalizer.

My wife has a 25" draw and her bow is a 50 pound model. She shoots it on about 40 pounds. She's just barely ASA legal with it. I tightened it down to 50 just to see what it could do speed wise and got a 285 fps average through my chrony. THAT'S SMOKIN' for a 50 pound bow at 25" draw! Not only is it fast, but it is silky smooth to draw back and VERY quiet. You can really stack some arrows with that thing too.
