To make a long story short since I'm already going to be late for Sunday school.....This is the first time I've hunted this particular area and just set up where I thought they would pass through. There were several birds gobbling at first light, but this one seemed the closest. He had plenty of hens, but they were all just making little tree yelps after they flew down. I done a little cluck and purr and here he came. The 3-4 minutes I watched him come through the woods out of range seemed like an eternity, but for once in my life I was patient and waited on a clear shot and took it. This bird really put on a show for me. It's just my second long-beard, but was probably more exiting than my first one. Anyway, just wanted to brag a little. I'm off to praise the Lord and celebrate the resurrection of my Lord and Savior now! Have a blessed Easter everyone and don't forget why we celebrate it!
9-1/4" beard
1" spurs
I didn't weigh him, but I'm a pretty stout feller and he felt heavy to me so I'm guessing around 75lbs.....
