wooden deer stand

If you've hunted for very long, you've run across an old wooden stand in a tree. They are usually rotten, fallen apart and long forgotten. I saw this on a WMA today. It wasn't there a few weeks ago. It's part of a pallet on top of ONE 8' 2x4, attached to the tree with a ratchet strap. Plus there were no less than a half dozen scent wicks hanging in all the surrounding limbs.

I still do on my farms. I love them. And they are so quiet and easy to enter

He is probably gonna use a strap on Hunting chair/seat.

But it's not old. Notice the tags are still on the steps.

I'm just wondering what the square brown box is about the stand against the tree. Looks to be roughly 6"x6" or smaller
