My taxidermist delivered this old boy today; 21+lbs, 11.25" beard and 1.5" hooks. I was fortunate enough to kill him in Fayette county on April 26, 2009, after many mornings of fruitless efforts on my part that year. The 2009 season was BY FAR my worst spring in the woods turkey hunting in the last two decades, but it did end on a positive note. If he is not my best, he is for sure in the top three ever for me. He is mounted on cypress from a Louisiana bayou (where my wife is from). He is the only turkey I have ever mounted, thus I thought he was worth sharing with the group as well.

That is a very nice mount and congrats on the bird... the head doesn't look fake like some taxi mounts.

Great bird and your taxidermist did a great job. My son killed his first in the spring of 2011 and that's the mount I tried to convince him to get but he wanted full strut on the ground so that's what we're doing. He's dying to get it back.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I thought the mount turned out very good too. My taxidermist is located in SW TN if anyone is ever looking for one. He does not have a website or anything, but he does great work in my opinion. You are welcome to shoot me a PM if you ever need his contact information, I will be glad to get you in contact with him.

Awesome mount!

Does it normally take 3 years for a Turkey mount though? It would seem the mount was well worth the wait though. (I honestly have no idea how long it takes)

Again, it looks great and congrats.

Good fair question and one I was anticipating at some point. It typically does not, but I had several moving parts in my life in last few years (wedding, new house, other mounts, limited wall space in man cave, etc) that made the three year turn around time feasible for me in this unique situation. I had some other things I had to sort out. From my experience, a year turn around time would is fair and pretty common for a quality deer or turkey mount.
