I started shooting a bow and arrow some time around the age of 3. It was a homemade bow made out of a stick and a piece of bailing twine, but it served its purpose for me wanting to get out there with the "big boys" and shoot. Age 4, for my b-day, I was given my own bow. It was a little red bow with little roller wheels on it, but it shot and from there, launched my bow shooting.
Well I'm 27 now; will be 28 this year. I've been shooting bows for a long time. Won hundreds of trophies and plaques, been to the world championship IBO tourneys, back when you had to qualify to go. Placed in the top 5 of the the Pro/Am events. My first deer was killed with a bow at age 9 on public land...Catoosa WMA. And still today it remains my favorite way to hunt.
Years ago I posted a photo that has been long lost to time. I wish I still had it! I posted it here on TnDeer several years ago when I was having a really good tourney year. I had robin hooded 16 different times that season and I had a picture of them all laid out on the floor. I don't have any of the arrows any more or that picture; just the memory of doing it.
But anyway, in the last few years I've not really shot that much. I've mostly hunted and kept my bow in hunting setup. Well Sunday night I came home from church and decided to shoot some. I've been playing around with my setup via software and decided to put the playing to real world testing and I was quite happy for not picking my bow up in several months. Was shooting a group of arrows and my last and final arrow flew with "the smack" as it hit the target.
Well it's no biggie to some folks; just expensive damage. But if I'm not mistaken, this one should have been around RH number 40 for me. Oh and yes I think I'm going to keep the changes I made with the setup!!
