What is everyone's favorite hunting app?Mine is Huntstand because it's the only one that I've tried because it does everything I need to know. What's yours and best features you like the most?

I started out with OnX and now I use Spartan Forge. I still have OnX, but will probably not renew it since Spartan Forge is adding the same features to it.

I've been using OnX and Basemap for a couple years trying to decide which I like better. But, my buddy and I recently figured out the satellite imagery on both of those is anywhere between 2-5 years old. Huntstand Pro updates their imagery monthly. When you hunt land that is cut for timber like I do, 5 year old satellite imagery is useless. I'm going to give Huntstand Pro a try.

Gaia is another great option for mapping. You can get Google Earth imagery on it, and the imagery is often a lot better than OnX's. Tons of layers that OnX doesn't have. It has a bit steeper of a learning curve but is more powerful. Plus, it's half the price of OnX. That being said, I have and use them both.

Oh yeah, best thing about Gaia is that they aren't partnered with hundreds of influencers and YouTubers who get a kickback when you use their promo code.

I use Huntstand Pro. It doesn't actually update monthly like advertised, and the "monthly" satellite images are such low resolution that you can't make anything out. Might as well paint a picture with crayons. You'd get more detail.

That said, I still like Huntstand Pro. It has a lot of different map types and is usually fairly accurate with property lines, as well as owner info. It's not anywhere near 100% accurate. But it's generally accurate enough for hunting purposes. I use it to mark terrain features & sign as I'm scouting so that I can go in afterwards and connect the dots to identify travel corridors where no otherwise apparent trail can be seen. I outline the trail and leave myself a note detailing it, and can go back to reference it year after year to note changes. That ability really makes learning a big woods property a whole lot easier & faster.

I'm sure other apps have similar abilities & features. I haven't tried any of them because I don't even use all the features on the one I got. Huntstand is nice but don't expect the high resolution and current updates they advertise.

I have been using onX for awhile now and before that was a cabelas gps tracking app. Not sure what happened to the cabelas one. I guess someone bought it out or maybe the merger with bass pro ended it. It just quit working one day. I tried Spartan forge and didn't like it. It had some neat features but I just liked onX better.

I've been using OnX for a few years. I tried Huntstand. I like some of the different features on each. I have too much data entered on OnX to start all over. I'm sticking with OnX. There both really good apps.

I must really be out of it. I understand nothing any of you are discussing. I can't envision or perceive an app that assists you in your hunt. I know it definitely won't help you drag the deer you shoot. Or is this some kind of entertainment thing or information database?

The app can be used for a variety of things from understanding property lines as well as understanding where you are in relation to certain geographic features.....I really like apps like OnX when going out of state....in Colorado we used the app on scouting days to mark areas like water holes, trails, etc....you can keep notes daily, drop pins or markers on the map... especially helpful on property that your trying to learn.....but the app can be useful locally too...mark stand sites, keep notes, etc....you can also share info from app with buddy's that you hunt with....nothing magic...just another tool.

I use HuntStand. It works good enough for me. It really came in handy on an endsley hunt couple years ago finding my way going in to my stand and back out in the dark.

About to switch from OnX to HuntStand or Spartan Forge. OnX is a gigantic hunk of trash at my lease for no reason at all. Partners use HuntStand and never ever have the first issue.
