My first pin is set at 25 yards but I am thinking about setting it to 20 yards. I hunt in the mountains and a 20 yard and below shot is more common. What yardage do you guys have your first pin set?

I only have one pin, I do shoot a considerably fast bow and can shoot out to 40 yds with one pin, I started using a pendulum sight my second year I started bowhunting and love that it takes all the guess work out

I use a single pin sight locked down @ 25 yards . For tight situations in thickets , I'll lock it down at 20 yards .

i got a 25 and under pin. my second pin is for 25-40. have to adjust a hair with the second one. it shoots dead on at 40. i got a 50 yd pin jic.

I've had worse shots by picking the wrong pin than by misjudging where to hold a single pin, so I went back to a single pin set dead-on for 25 yards. It's only a couple inches high anywhere between 5 and 25 yards, and drops 10 inches at 40 yards.

The only yardages I need to judge or "memory mark" around my stand are 25, 30, and 35 yards. I hold on bottom third of chest anywhere up to 25 yards, middle of chest for 25-30 yards, and top half of chest 30 to 35 yards. If it's a shot I absolutely have to take between 35 and 40 yards, holding at the very top of the back puts the arrow in the heart area.
