wish I had bought my son an automatic but a few years back but now he's used to it.That's why I went with the auto gravey. Everyone tells me with a good recoil pad most of the kick will be eliminated.
My son was 7 I think when I bought his Mossberg 500 Bantam 20-gauge. I let him shoot it with 2 3/4" shells and it was fine. When we hunted I slipped 3" shells in and when he killed his first turkey at 8 he never noticed the difference. He's almost 12 now but still wish I had gone with an auto for him.

My son has the same Mossberg. Got it when he was 5. Did the same thing with the shells with the same results. Killed his first bird at 6 yo. Killed 13 more with it before he picked up a 12ga. He is 16 now and has been using my old pump but he bought his first semiautomatic sunday.
Received the gun. Put a saddle mount on it with an eotech. She got her a pink camo sling. Bought 4 kinds of ammo to try. May load some tss. Waiting on the choke I bought from roost and she ll be ready to shoot.

Don't let her shoot it before hunting. Did that and scarred my son for 2 years. Put a cheap red dot on a 22 and let her practice with that
