Youth harvest down

Harvest this year was 592 versus 816 in 2018. This number along with statewide numbers continues to decline.

I'd argue there are more youth hunters now, and this year the weather was vastly better as well.

I think it is hard to tell from a two day snap shot. I am curious how numbers look over the season. Last year on juvenile weekend We saw probably 50 birds (several toms) still flocked up for the most part. They were gobbling a lot. This year we saw about half that number (no toms and 6 jakes) and barely heard any gobbling. The area I hunt is near the river and has been flooded for a while. So I do not know if they have moved back into the area.
I only heard one shot last weekend and I did not run into any other hunters. I guess time will tell.

My younger brother and I heard quite a bit of shooting where we were. We were also hunting an area with several birds.
