So this will be my son's first year Turkey hunting. Right now he has a 20youth Mossberg. It has the bead at the moment. He has shot small bird shot out of it but wants red dot like mine. Be like dad kind of thing, maybe it will make him more confident.
But what optic has everyone started there kid on? He will be 9 April.
Bead, reflex, red dot tube, or scope?

exactly, red dot is always my choice for kids. I like it much better then the tube type red dots though so I didnt have to worry about them getting lined up with it etc and it limiting their FOV

I started my son with a red dot tube. It was a bushnell trs-25 with saddle mount. I liked it so well that I put a Burris FF3 red dot on mine and eventually put a FF3 on his.

My son has been shooting a regular style scope at turkeys since he was 4 years old. It's worked perfectly for him. I had a .22 setup that was very similar to the shotgun so he could practice a lot.

I still have your trs-25 on mine. He likes it but I changed my stock so the length of pull is a little long for him. Thinking about ordering one for him.
