Seems most of our birds are a lil behind schedule. Some are still bunched up in big flocks. Went both mornings and only heard a couple gobbles on the roost and zero after fly down. Riding around mid day I'm still seeing strutters with hens all day. Maybe it's these frosty mornings or are they just a week or 2 later than normal? I will keep after em and keep looking at all these success stories and pics y'all are posting. This is the first year in a long time I haven't killed on opening weekend. Good luck.

Same here, toughest I've ever seen it for opening weekend. I've heard maybe 3 gobbles total in 2 full days. Woods look and feel like winter and the birds are completely silent

Brutal is the bottom line

I agree. Just told my buddy that this was the worst opening weekend that I can remember. Saturday we didn't hear anything on the roost or all day but ended up seeing 25 different birds, 4 jakes and 21 hens, Just no mature Toms.

I found a different group of birds yesterday evening and set up on them this morning, they were hot and gobbled all the way to 25 yards but I didn't have my safety all the way off and ended up missing on my 2nd attempt lol. They played the script perfectly I just didn't do my part and rushed it after the safety malfunction.

Finally found a player this morning. First bird that's gobbled really to any degree and he's dead :)

Having alot of the same in my areas. One gobble yesterday and non today. Juvi wknd they were lighting it up! Then down to 2 gobblera o Tuesday, down to 1 gobbler on Friday, then nothing Sunday and today...

Brutal is a great word for it. They aren't gobbling on the roost or when they hit the ground. All the gobblers I've seen have several hens. I'd say the birds in the higher elevations are a little behind.
