Waited the rain out from a blind this morning and saw a few hens. Rain stopped at 9:00 and I stayed in the blind for another 30 minutes or so without hearing or seeing anything except the hens. Got out and climbed to the top of a hill and called still nothing. Got to where I could see part of another field and saw him with a jake about 200 yards away. Sneaked around to a spot to call from and no answer but after a few minutes I could hear something coming up the hill. Saw his head pop up about 60 yards and watched them come on up to about 35 yards. The way he was acting I didn't feel like he would come any closer so I let him have it. This is the heaviest bird I have ever killed, most of mine are between 19 and 23 lbs but this guy was 26 lbs. He had a 11" beard and 1.25" spurs.

Congrats! Now you know the answer to your question, was it stupid or dedicated? That's a heck of a turkey.

He looks every bit of it in the picture you posted. Congrats on a great turkey, and thanks for sharing.

Did he ever gobble? Strut? Drum?
He never did anything except look for the hen he thought he was hearing. Never heard anything today. I guess all the storms have them hushed up. I got lucky that the rain stopped long enough to be able to actually hunt and for him to dry off for a nice pic, hate wet tom pics!
