They gobbled good this morning. It was an awesome morning in the turkey woods. This bird and his buddies played hard to get. We worked them for over an hour and moved on them 6 or 7 times. We ended up swapping spots with them before it was over. We finally got them to come take a look. My son couldn't see him as it was thick, and I was afraid he would take two steps back out of sight so I shot. Glad to get the monkey off our back and time to go get him one. This is my biggest bird by weight.

22.9 lbs
9.5" beard
7/8" spurs

Congrats, really pretty bird! Best thing about killing a bird early....Now you dont have to tote your gun the rest of the entire day while working on filling your son's tag!

Very true. It's a lot easier when not having to carry a gun even though the youth 870 20 gauge is pretty light. I thought we were going to fill his tag mid day yesterday, but we couldn't get the bird to commit to come all the way in. We needed to get in front of him but couldn't due to the terrain and property lines. It was a fun day in the woods even though he was a little mad at me for shooting. :)
