I've got a lot of history with this guy, he is at least 5.5 this year, I passed him at 2.5 and 3.5, was gonna shoot him last year but the only time I saw him in person I was driving on my UTV coming out of my stand, got him in my scope but decided I didn't want to take him like that.

This is him around same time last year, he added a point this year. You can't tell in these pics but his left ear has a cut on it which makes it easier to identify him

Very nice trophy with a lot of history. I'm sure he has a name. If you are fortunate enough to get him, I hope he has a special place on your wall.

I remember him well. Similar antler configuration his summer? How high is your camera mounted? Reason I ask is a lot of folks believe that is one way to avoid detection. Not with him. :)

I think he will be similar, we will see over next few weeks. He does at this point, seems a little behind from last year but 8 days can make a difference. Camera is about chest high. I've never seemed to have a problem that I know of with camera detection.

That's awesome! Exciting to have a nice one with lots of history!

But I have to ask, how certain are you the one in the most recent pics is the same buck as last year's pics? Is it possible you have two mature bucks with somewhat similar antler characteristics?

The reason I ask is because, to me, they appear they COULD be different bucks.

Deep brisket and hump back shoulders. IMO, these are great identifying traits of a mature buck in summer months when they are skinnier and not filled out. I too think it is the same buck. Super healthy buck this summer.

I too think it is the same buck.
And I wasn't saying they're not.
Just saying I cannot assume they're the same buck based on just those pics.
The most recent one has a significantly longer left brow, and also does not appear to have as much inward curvature of his main beams.

I would just expect the brows and main beams (last year to this year) to have greater similarity than what I'm seeing. But, in both year's pics, we're looking at velvet pics with the antlers not fully developed, and in different stages of growth.

Once I start getting more pics I'll be able to confirm, he has a cut in his right ear and has a bad eye in night pics. I just put the cams out recently so just getting pics but I'm 99.9% it's him
