Jim Clark (TNDeer's jfclarktn) brought his girlfriend, Jessie, catfishing with me on a gloomy Thursday. But the rain never came and the catfish did. It was a solid day with 25 fish coming over the rail. I was glad that Jessie claimed big fish honors. I was NOT glad that the truly big fish got away (as they're known to do). Jessie fought what was definitely a 30 lb.-plus catfish like a trooper for several minutes before it just came unhooked. No operator-error, no underwater snags, no nothing... the hook just popped out. I was heartbroken. Jessie just went back to fishing to try and catch another one. It was a great day on the water with a fun couple, and that means life is good and gettin' better every day!
