In a river hopefully!
Story is a guy on the stern of the boat fell off while his friend was putting the boat on the trailer and gave it the gas. Both legs severely lacerated by the prop. However as extreme luck would have it the boys in blue just happened to be at the ramp and applied BILATERAL ( on both legs) and the guy survived. No one wants to see someone bleed to death in minutes. Get a tourniquet and keep it in your boat. Learn how to apply it & teach your kids. They may just save your life.

That's painful to just look at. I first thought it was a heart of a deer
where a bullet went through. Got cataract removed last mon. Looking closer I couldn't believe hoe he lived with a leg cut that bad. Thank God the Blue were there to save him.

They were driving the boat onto the trailer and gassed it to get it up out of the water I suppose.

As to being prepared, I have trauma kits available most everywhere I am and know how to improvised if need be. Now mentally, yea, hard to prepare for that until you actually do it a few times. And even now it would take me a sec to shake the WTF thoughts as I get to work.

Not both legs but I've head one that was that bad. Only had about 4" of skin/meat on the back side and my bone left, right above my knee. No I was not ready. I was terrified I'd bleed out before they got me to the hospital. Old guy that dr me up first said he was a medic in Vietnam said God sure knew hot to put men together cause all your main arteries run down the back side of the legs in that area. He acted like it was nothing. I'd sure hate to know what all he'd seen. My family dr can still remember the day and room number I was in when he first seen it.

I had a Friend who lost his 6 year old daughter in a similar accident.
It was on Sunday before Labor Day , everyone was enjoying the last trip too the lake for the Summer..
As they approached the ramp the child opened the front gate and fell over the front of the pontoon ..
Before her Dad could cut the engine, she was into the prop.
His BIL dove in too recover the child, as she was being loaded onboard the Dad in a panic started the engine and the BIL some how received a huge cut too his leg at that time…
Unfortunately the child didn't make it, but the BIL survived..
I remember this because my oldest Daughter was the same age at the time…
They had both just started 1st grade.. I worked with the Dad…
Not a Labor Day goes bye without me remember that terrible day.
I sold my pontoon shortly after that, the kids really didn't enjoy it that much anyway….
My Daughter is 33 now….
Still a terrible memory.

From a prop?

As stated he was on the BACK of the boat, while the owner( captain or whatever) was trying to trailer the boat……. Gave it gas to probably get the last foot or two and that's when he fell off. The prop cut both legs severely. This was posted on North American Rescue.

Does anyone know if they saved both legs after applying the tourniquets?
Yes. I didn't post because too graphic for most. But he is alive because of the tourniquets applied to both legs by the police. IF they hadn't had those he would have died in about 10-15 min , less if it actually hit a femoral artery.
