Lucky Lure

I own several hundred redfins, 5" and 7", in a wide variety of colors. All of mine have 4X strong gamakatsus. Your pic is why I use boga grips.

With all of them I own, it seems like one that has the paint knocked off it and starts looking more like a "bone" redfin than a blue and chrome or black and chrome, they become better fish catchers the more paint they lose. My brother loved this one until a large striper broke off.

Agree with everything in this post. The bone color underneath is deadly and yes it seems the more paint they lose the better they get. Also I would say that about 5 years ago I started changing out the hooks before I ever used them. Those factory hooks are not very sharp and don't hold a good edge. These are the ones I've been using for several years now and they really make a difference.

I have a box full of RedFins, mostly in Smoky Joe.

What are your favorite colors for the fluke and jig head?
 
I'm usually targeting bass. Fish 1-3 times a week all year long. Hard to pick just one but always on the deck is a blue and chartreuse 2.8 kytec swimbait on a 1/8-1/4 oz jig head depending on wind and target depth. Also hard to beat a Berkley general in warm months. I think a man has to change that go bait to with seasonal patterns.
Dec.-Feb. kytec, shadrap, damiki
March-April. Shadrap, rattletrap, worm
April-May. Worm, crankbait
May-Aug. big worm, big crankbait
Sept-Nov. crankbait, swimbait, topwater
 
For bass it's a Texas rigged 7" Berkeley power worm in Pumpkin seed.
When we used to wade some creeks I guess I'd have to say a rooster tail for general fish catchin.

Don't really have anything lucky for anything else I haven't logged enough time on other species yet.
 
river fishing for bass - soft plastic hellgramite on a 1/16oz mushroom jig head. just plain catches bass, largemouth smallies spots you name it. for panfish i like the berkely gulp minnow in either shad or chartreuse, depending on water clarity, on a black trout magnet jig head.

I would try those, I am thinking they are less in cost than gamakatsu and maybe work just as well. But I already have a couple thousand lures for striper/hybrid fishing that have gamakatsu 4X strong trebles.

Doublelung, may have to try to sell you some redfins one day. Unless I get time to look for another place to catch them like I used to, I have several hundred 7" redfins and many and unusual colors I may never use.
