How does your turkey gun stack up against these light-weights?

Haven't made the switch from 12 to 29 gauge yet but these are my patterns from a hand loaded 2 3/4"she'll with 2 ounces of tss. Recoil was not bad at all out of my 835.

I used to carry a Mossberg 835 that weighed more than I care to mention and kicked so bad it more than likely caused a concussion or two from the recoil ( it patterned great). Every Turkey gun I have now is a 20 gauge and I have one 410 , with the heaviest still weighing under 6 pounds. I have gotten soft as I have gotten older! Or maybe gotten wiser. Lol

Never weighed my 870 super mag....but looked it up and the spec says 7.5 lb.....when the turkeys are rocking I never notice the weight....but when the turkeys are silent and I turn to hunting morel's....it's like carrying a telephone pole. :)

Carrying my Remington SP 10ga for yrs. Then i went down to a mossberg 500 410 TSS turkey gun. Its so lite to carry up and down the hills. I also set up a mossberg SA 410ga TSS turkey gun. And a mossberg sa 20ga turkey gun. I wont be going back to my 10ga. I like the patterns i am getting from my 410's and 20ga.

Just purchased this Savage 301 20 gauge. Been toting am 835 and 535 for several years now. Red dot arrives tomorrow. But this thing is super light. It's almost comical. Going to run a few loads threw it this weekend to see how it patterns. Got the Jebs Headhunter .565 and 10 rounds of TSS 3" #9. Started deep cleaning the barrel today and I forgot how dirty savages are straight from the factory. My 212 barrel was filthy..

Assuming you had a full size stock on it before, would you sell the original?

I'm going to hold on to it for the time being. You might already know, but I've been ordering parts directly from Tristar in Missouri. I'm currently awaiting another stock and forearm for our Viper G2.

Bent an ejection arm on my old Winchester model 42 410. Having a hard time replacing it. Had a Mossberg 500 410 24in stock Full Choke barrel I had bought at walmart a few years back. Gave $280 for it out the door. Decided to set it up. Wrapped her in Greenleaf vinyl and am having it threaded for a tube. .385 ought to choke my 3in 7.5's down nicely out to 28 steps. Still have some "wicked" handloads on hand as well. Going to be a feather light neck breaker, sure'nuff ;)

Shot an 870 Special Purpose 12 ga for years. Went to a 870 in 20 gauge for several years. Killed many turkeys with both. Last few years I have gone to a Charles Daily .410 using # 8 TSS . Will not be going back to the 12 gauge
