I've somehow managed to never have a hook past the barb.. until yesterday.

I was loading some rods in the boat.. had a dozen or so laying on deck. I grabbed one and moved it towards me. When I did, I grabbed the hook from a squarebill. I don't know how many nerves are in the tip of that finger, but it was incredible how bad it'd hurt when that hook moved just the tiniest bit. Got my wife to tie some braid to it and it popped right out. Strangely, it hasnt' hurt even the tiniest bit since it came out. My finger has been numb (feels like its asleep).

If you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last several years, it would probably be worth getting one. Puncture wounds are pretty bad for that.
A guy my son works with got stuck with something the other day and when they asked how long it had been since he had a shot they told him they have moved it up to where you need one every 2 years now.
No clue why but that's what they told him at the clinic.

Couple months ago had a treble hook in the top of left hand that went to bone with an 18 inch largemouth attached to it. I still don't know how I got it out. After I grabbed my pliers and got the fish calmed down I just yanked it out thanks to grandson pouncing on the fish! Didn't hurt much after I got it out and put hand sanitizer on it. Healed quick as well.

If you are not current on a tetanus shot, get one. If you are not current on your tetanus shot, you probably are behind on a lot of other healthcare stuff. Might be a good time to think on that.

Did it last week with a Redfin that was unknowingly hooked to the dog leash. Dog took off. Buried it in my thumb. I feel your pain
