Got my wife to tie some braid to it and it popped right out. Strangely, it hasnt' hurt even the tiniest bit since it came out. My finger has been numb (feels like its asleep).

Ouch for sure.

Years ago, the finger pricks done to take blood samples always hurt because they were taken on the tip of my finger about where your hook went in. At some time later, I was getting my finger pricked and the person did it off to the side of the finger and I mentioned how it didn't hurt. He explained that this way he avoided the nerves that cause so much pain (maybe I'm a wuss). Seems like they are always done off to the side now.
 
Hung one in the tricep and there was a deep bruise like that a little bigger than a baseball. Pushed another one through the skin on my thumb and it wasn't near as bad that way. Went to the clinic both times and got the shot.
 
Ouch man I've been there. Had a few rods in the back seat/rear area of my old 4 runner and got a treble hook stuck in my arm. Got myself in a pickle that day, picture having your arm stuck through the front window reaching into the backseat to unlock the back door and having a 6xd get stuck in your arm. Didn't have a pocket knife on me to cut the line or my phone on me to call the wife to come outside and help me. Finally was able to untangle the rod out of the 5 or 6 that were grouped together and got it pulled out the front window. Walked in the house with a rod in one hand and the lure in my arm. Got the line cut and called my neighbor, he got some braid and yanked it out.

That string loop works great to remove hooks. I've done it about a dozen times now so now I have a reputation and people come to me.
 
I had "one of those days" on the water a few weeks back. Fishing a kayak tournament out of my Hobie and set the hook on a good size bass with a small lipless crank. I was keeping the line tight and getting him in. About 8' from the yak he came out of the water and went airborne. Crank came out of his mouth and torpedo'd into my chest. Brand new lure first time casting it and top and bottom treble latched on to my left pec.

I immediately grabbed at my chest and now my hand is hooked. My very best friend was fishing maybe 150 yds away and I yelled for him to come over and help. He got to me and immediately got sick and thought he was passing out. Luckily my right hand was hooked and I'm left handed but it took me about 45 minutes to get completely unhooked.

I tossed the lure into the water and got 1st Aid kit and did some work. Apparently while floating my line got into my pedal drive. I was floating close to the bank and I gave it a kick or two to get off and rod tip bent. I thought OH WOW IT'S a BIGGUN! I worked it a minute or two and every time I kicked I thought he was pulling like a monster.

I caught my personal best - a 230lb dumb*** in a plastic boat.
