TARP Rock Bass….

Caught a ton of crappie yesterday, despite the chaotic lake traffic but this guy was the big surprise. Found a new brush pile that had about 2 dozen big crappie on it . Caught s 13 incher od it and then my son hooked up with a fish that fought much harder. Was surpised to see it was la rock bass and a good one. Was loved to seen what it weighed before spawn. 11.25 inches. All fish got to swim
Again yesterday.

And btw, thank you for calling what it is, a Rock bass and not a Redeye. Over here, we have Rock bass and Coosa bass, they both have red eyes and most folks call them both "Redeye's". So anytime somebody tells me they caught a bunch of Redeye I have to ask which kind? Most of the time, they don't know…

Then they call Warmouth "Redeyes," too.

I always called a Warmouth a rock bass …

For the record, that's a black perch

Growing up, I always heard them called black perch.

Thats what i have always called them as well. But twra refers to them as rock bass

Green perch too.

Some of y'all don't know what a perch is, or even close!

That's a big one I catch them in my area creek from time to time and the fight for there size.

Nice! I fish probably 40 something weeks out of the year. This is one of them that I just refuse to go though! I half thought about it and then said "nope...not doing it".

I said i wouldnt ever go either. Started out twra lake and it was almost empty. The. Went to Normandy and it was packed. We were catching crappie off a huge brush pile while 2 pontoons were parked across the cove.

Great flathead bait. And if you don't get a catfish bite, throw it in the cooler and take it home!

Not a warmouth- aka green sunfish. This is a rock bass or black perch. Lots of folks call them redeye, but as already pointed out, lots of similar fish have red eyes

Yep, two different fish…

Sometimes a person's location has a bearing on what a fish is called..
Where I grew up (N. Al ) we call a warmouth a goggle eye or a rock bass…

Kinda like a crappie being called crappy or speck

Warmouth are warmouth and green sunfish are green sunfish. They're not the same species

I think what we call warmouth in this area actually are green sunfish.
