for $67..00 the Covert MP9 have been excellent for me. On Amazon you get two cameras, with SD cards and batteries.

Good to know Wes. Thanks for posting. I'll remember that when clients ask about good still image cameras. I strictly use video, but for census work, I want still images.I do mostly pics, not video, so I am a fan of the Browning Dark Ops models.

One thing I like about the Dark Ops series is they only require 6 AA batteries, and these units are much smaller (less visible to wildlife & humans) than most other cams.

I ordered a couple Browning Dark Ops. I've used these before and like them pretty well. And they're on sale at Midway right now for $80.

For most of my purposes, still images are better, and can be reviewed in a fraction the time required to view even short 10-second video clips.
One thing I often do is set my Browning cams to take 7 or 8 high-resolution still pics per triggering event, and have those pics spaced about a second apart. This overall compares similarly to 10-second video clips, but the imagery is far superior, much more detailed.
Each application can be very different, and I do sometimes use video, especially where hearing sound might be more likely advantageous.
So the above reminds me of another feature of Browning cams:
Browning cams allow up to 8 pics per triggering event, while most other brands only allow up to 3.
Then add the fact Browning allows up to 512gb sd cards, while most others only allow up to 32gb.

Another idea for some of you:
Even though you might currently only want a non-cell trail cam,
consider buying a cell cam.
Many brands are actually offering comparable cell cams at a lower initial price point than their similar non-cell cams.
Thing is, you can use most cell cams just like non-cell cams, i.e. just don't utilize the cell feature.
Why are some comparable cell cams cheaper at point of purchase than their non-cell brothers?
For the same reason many computer printers are "cheap" at the point of purchase. Printer manufactures make their money off print cartridges; cell cam manufacturers make their money off of cell service plans.
So consider buying a cell cam, then just use it as a non-cell cam.
If you later want to try cell, the option is built in.

They're sure the best I've used, and I've used a bunch. They set up about the same as any other camera I have. I cannot speak to time-lapse features because I don't use it, but nothing else seems any more or any less complicated than any other camera.

Their imagery & video is very good, battery life very good.
I just like the overall features of some others better.
One other thing about them that's good: They take large capacity SD cards
and I do find that an advantage over most other brands.
You can quickly fill a 32gb sd card on video mode,
and 32gb is the max card size for many brands.
Card capacity may be an even greater issue with cell cams, as quickly filling a card negates much of the advantages of a cell cam (i.e. not needing to visit the cam for servicing as often).

I meant to order an A5 but accidentally ordered a E5S. I also ordered a Meidase P70. I am going to order an A5 to compare. Look foward to getting them out.
Yeah I did same thing and bought one by accident. It's a really good cam. The interface is exactly same as A5 and the Meidase P60 & P70 cams. I don't have a P70 but it looks like it might be on par with the A5. I've got several P60's, A5's, and the E5S. They're all almost exactly the same with the A5 standing a little above.
Here are some vids from a couple P60's. Does very nearly as well as A5 but not quite as loud of sound. Clear video & pics both day & night with good flash. Gets a wee bit of washout if too close but that's to be expected with any cam.
