Tomorrow morning it will be 116 days and a wakeup. I smelled the hickory wood burning in someone's fireplace this evening. Got my blood stirring.

It's probably closer to 100 for me. I'm headed to Colorado mid-september on a backcountry elk hunt and will be hitting TN just in time for the opener.

It will be here before we know it for sure. Funny how the same sort of things like a cool morning, the smell of wood burning, days getting shorter, the first leaves start to change colors set us all off.

I did not count the days, but for me, barring unforseen problems, I begin the last Monday in August...whenever that is.
