Got drawn for the rut hunt on the Vonore industrial park. Anyone hunted it the last few years? Obviously I know there are lots of deer, just not a ton of huntable ground. Just wondering people's thoughts. It's a 2 day and 25 hunters

I got drawn for the sept. 21-22 quota hunt. I put some cameras out in a few places, but I saw the most action close to Old Slag Rd. There is a power line cut there and I walked into the woods toward the water and hung one that was getting a lot of movement. I paddled a canoe into that cove from that boat launch close to Vonore Baptist and hunted on the morning of the 21st. Two large bucks walked under my stand around 9:00 and I drilled one. He ran about 30 yds, jumped into the lake and I could never find him. I searched for four or five hours, but there were so many places for him to get out of the water and I could never find a blood trail again. Totally heartbreaking.
There are definitely some large deer in there. Keep in mind, I was there in late September.
Also, I paddled my canoe pretty far into that creek (Island Creek, I think) and the banks were too high for me to see, but I could hear hogs everywhere if you are interested in hunting them.
