You will run out of pattern (density of pellets) before you exceed lethal range of the pellets. If I were going to limit my shot distance to 30 yards and use a 12G, I would shoot #7 lead and a full to extra full choke.
Yes, but the ones I used I loaded myself. Looking online, looks like #7 lead is not that readily available in commercially loaded ammo. If you made me turkey hunt with 12G 2.75" lead shells. I'd be fine hunting with lead 7.5s but I would limit my shots to 30 yards, with 35 yards being absolute max due to a judgement error on my part in the heat of the moment.So basically the next size up from 7.5 heavy dove shot?
