WOW! I AM HOOKED! Ive hunted turkeys for the last 4
years but haven't killed one until sunday afternoon. I'm
43 years old and have killed many deer but this hunt was
off the charts in the over whelming department. I arrived
at my lease around 4 30 for an afternoon hunt having no
idea what I was about to experience. Walking to the blind
my partner says I just heard one I think. I tell him lets ease
up to the field where my blind is incase one was in the
field. Low and behold I sneak up to see a gobbler looking
the opposite direction with his neck stretched out in search
of a mate I'm sure. I told my partner get down, he's in the
field. I drop my decoy bag and chair and set up behind some
bushes on the edge of the road. I let out my first call with no
response. Let out another call and he gobbled and my heart
began to beat like a drum. He at this point was coming. I waited
what seemed like 5 minutes and purred, he instantly gobbled
and I could see him at this point through the bushes I was behind.
I take the safety off and he is trying to figure out where the hen was.
I had my gun aimed the entire time with my left hand using my right
on the slate call on the ground. My buddy is saying shoot, shoot him.
I was a little worried he wasn't close enough. So I let er rip right after
I said Lord give me the strength to pull this off. I shoot and this huge
bird sat on his butt and fell over backwards flopping just like on tv. I
Sat there for a second and looked back at my buddy with the biggest
smile since my kids were born and said we did it. By this point we are
Screaming, hugging, high fiving, I'm crying tears of joy because I've
had a pretty fough start to this year and none of it mattered now. I
thanked God for allowing me to stay strong and keep my head up and
he rewarded me with my first bird. It weighed 20lbs, had a 10' beard,
and just over 1' spurs. Hunting is my escape from everyday life, a lot
of times I go and come home empty handed but days like sunday
remind me of why I love the outdoors so much. If someone can walk
me through on how to post pictures I do have some. I hope everyone
hunting this spring gets a chance to experience the thrill of getting a
bird. Good hunting brothers.

Super!!! Your thrill and excitement comes right out of the screen! That is what hunting is all about-and not just the kill but the whole experience. Got any pics? Congrats!
