Well, I'm attempting to make up for lost time thanks to school. The birds were hittin it pretty hard this morning but proved difficult to work. They had no problem gobbling and strutting, but seemed to lack motivation when it came to actually committing.

After sunrise, it turned out that I wasn't the only one out hunting. After setting up in some brush to work a bird, I heard something rustling in the bushes behind me. Finally, I noticed two ears and two eyes staring at me through some high grass. A coyote had snuck within 15 yards of me hoping I was his breakfast. I wasn't able to get a great shot off, but I slung some lead his direction anyway.

Around 8:00 this morning, I heard a couple of gobblers fighting. Long story short, I was able to do a sneak-n'-peak on the edge of one of our clover fields and caught this 3-year-old struttin along the road. At 10 steps, he didn't know what hit him.

Hopefully I can fill my last two tags tomorrow and Sunday.

congrats. I'll be looking for #3 in the morning myself as long as the rain stays out.

I plan on getting in a blind around one of our good fields. Gotta go hard the final weekend!

I blew it. Was set up waaaay before daylight and ended up being no more than 75 yards from them on the roost. They finally flew down around 6:00 and it was 4 hens, a jake, and 2 longbeards but they were 88 yards away. The hens ended up going one way and the longbeards headed toward the woods so I got up and moved. On my second call after getting set-up one of them hammered right out in front of me. As I pick him up about 100 yards out I catch movement at 2:00 and it's the other one. He's 25 yards from me looking hard and I can't move. The other one gets about the same distance and then the alarm putt and they were gone. Tried to get on one of them but they were weaving in and out of trees so quick I didn't. Can't go this afternoon because of my son's baseball game so I'll be there in the morning for 1 final shot at it.
