What do you think contributed to the failure of the 10 models Bsk?
Poor design or manufacturing.
I think it was both poor design and very poor manufacturing.
Add to that, little or no inspection of the finished product, and/or little or no caring (as they continued to heavily advertise and sell a faulty product).
What upsets me more is how they continued to sell them
AFTER they knew so many were, at best, not as advertised, if they worked at all. I almost purchased several, before reading about their high failure rates, and then a few months later, still got suckered into buying one.
I stopped by Bass Pro in late October 2010, not planning to buy a trail cam. They had this huge catchy display, and the sales rep stated they were great cams, they had had no complaints. Maybe he had just started his job that morning. Bottom line, I walked out with one, and experienced all the problems others had been talking about in May/June 2010. Not to mention, they had Michael Waddell endorsing them, and he had to have known these cams were a piece of crap long before October 2010.
Like Cuddeback did a few years ago, Bushnell used their previous good reputation coupled with excessive advertising to overprice a faulty product. I'm hoping Leupold isn't doing the same thing with their entry into the trail cam market this year. Don't they realize there are a lot of guys like me who simply won't buy any more of
ANY their optical products when we feel we've been intentionally screwed by any particular one, trail cam, scope or otherwise?
