2021 season recap

(Although most were killed on neighboring farms later on).
Not suggesting you did anything wrong, but the statement above is what I suspected. 5-10 LBs in a discrete location gone in a matter of days. I see it happening in a lot of places these days, and unfortunately for the flock, usually the first week of season. Congrats again on a good season.

Correct, gone in a matter of days. It's unfortunate that the majority of turkey hunters are 'takers'... show up at the start of turkey season, hunt and kill their birds usually on land they are not invested in, then don't think twice about it until next season.

The only reason this farm has birds (it didn't 10 years ago) is because I've dug 2 water sources for birds, planted plots of grain and clover, created nesting cover, trapped raccoons and coyotes incessantly, and left it virtually unhunted for the past 10 years (we've killed 5 birds in the prior 10 years off this farm). Unfortunately, as the local population has increased on this farm, others have secured permission from landowners on the 3 sides around me and have been doing their darndest to wipe them out. I guess I'm going to have to lease the farms around me for a nominal amount to keep this flock going.

Awesome season Mega! I always love reading your posts during turkey season. It's a wealth of knowledge I have drawn on many times. Congratulations!

I'm a little melancholy. Not quite heartbroken, but sad to see another turkey season come to an end. Lots ofheartbreak. With incredible highs, some near misses, some new adventures, some disappointments, and some heartbreaks.

Some of the highlights from 2021...

First Osceola, followed by another Osceola on public.

First (delayed) double with my son in TN. I shot my bird, then another hour later a couple more came in and my son shot one.
Man that is what hunting is all about it's called hunting not killing for a reason, things get tough you either dig deep or go home! It's the point of being in the outdoors while we have that right before we have to ask the king permission to kill his stuff just be glad you can hunt as you can I work 90 percent of the time and military the other 10 percent! Weather was not great, birds are fewer ammo shortages it's only going to get Worse wait and see so enjoy it as much as you can!
