2023 Kill Thread

This guy came out 150 yards away and going the wrong direction. I grunted at him (first time trying a grunt tube) and he turned and came in on a string. I shot him at 30 yards. Could have waited to shake hands with him if I wanted. He was on a mission. Stinky and in full rut!

Ha! Might be the first but I'm betting won't be the last time you use a grunt tube. They flat out work in the right situation. And boy what a bruiser it worked on! Congrats

Sat this morning.
Cold but comfy.
Couple grunts out of boredom about every hour.
About 10:00, I toot a couple more times.
Text the wife that I'm heading down so I lower my gun to the ground via rope and here comes a spike hauling butt straight at me off Comby Ridge.
He's lookin around, don't see me. Walks to my left, I get the gun up and with the rope still attached, make a nice broadside shot.
Ran 100 yards, good blood from the Hornady SST 250 grain sabots. Complete pass thru.
Now being a former Flat Lander, this youngster got the last laugh expiring 100 feet down a steep bowl.
I ain't 25 no more.

Got him cleaned and hung up and then checked the latest camera pictures. Turns out I got a picture of him 10 minutes before I shot him and over 500 yards away. First time he's been on camera.View attachment 203059View attachment 203061
Nice buck brother , congrats.

Passed a couple bucks so far with a bow, one passed through my lane as I drew back. shot this lonely doe last light for meat last week. I'm giving up until my daughter gets one she's had some real close encounters pig at 8am and 3 yotes just not close enough yet.

Wished I took a entry wound picture was almost 3" hole at 20yds 125gr powder 295 powerbelt. Took her off her feet.

Punched my last tag on this 7pt yesterday morning right at daylight. He had some battle scars, a shallow puncture wound under one of his eyes, chipped tine, and his ear was split on one side. Had lot of pictures of him on camera running off smaller bucks the last couple weeks. Now the focus shifts to putting my wife, sister, and brother-in-law on some deer.
