Shortest hunt ever. About 1030 I decided to go check a cam I hadn't in a while. It was 300 yards from where I parked. Wind was a howling 20-30mph. As I was checking my cam which is located on an old strip bench. He had been through 10 min prior. So I walked around the Bench and sat down. Hit the grunt tube and he came in to 32 yards. Perfect heart shot through a bunch of brush and small pines. I thought he was a different deer but he will do. One of the bigger 5 points I've seen. Dressed 145 pounds.

I was in and out in under an hour.

It was also the first deer I've taken with a little snow on the ground. Which really helped to scout after the hunt. This old strip bench which is now big timber offers a lot and I didn't even notice it until yesterday. I had hung the cam and kind of forgot about it. But the deer are using it as a travel route. In certain places where it meets a low spot in the above ridge (saddle) there was a lot of autumn olive trees that offered cover and browse for late season.

Congratulations on a fine looking buck brother.

Tagged out. Busting out the stickbow for a nanny next. First deer was at least 5.5 possibly older based on previous year pics, leaning older. One of the biggest bodied deer I've ever taken. Killed him the week before Thanksgiving. Second buck was taken last Friday about 15 minutes before dark. Caught him slipping out of his bed to make the rounds for the evening. Had pics of him all summer. He didn't leave a 1/2 mile circle all season. But he was real good at hiding. Finally caught up to him.
