2024 Kill Thread

Old Bama public land buck. Doubt I kill another mature buck with a rack as small as this one. ha. He hardly had an ounce of fat on him and was all scarred up from years of fighting. Came in hot on a doe's tail.

Tagged out. Busting out the stickbow for a nanny next. First deer was at least 5.5 possibly older based on previous year pics, leaning older. One of the biggest bodied deer I've ever taken. Killed him the week before Thanksgiving. Second buck was taken last Friday about 15 minutes before dark. Caught him slipping out of his bed to make the rounds for the evening. Had pics of him all summer. He didn't leave a 1/2 mile circle all season. But he was real good at hiding. Finally caught up to him.

Congratulations on two nice Bucks!

12/8/24, I finally ended a match I'd been playing for the past 3 years on this giant Whitetail. 5 years of history and 3 years of hunting him, I finally made it happen during a stalk in the rain. There's no better feeling than releasing an arrow into a mature buck you have multiple years history with. Shout out and thank you to my brother in law Jake Fountain at https://www.jakefountainphotography.com for taking time out of his busy schedule in order for me to capture this memory and have it forever.

Congratulations! He's a great buck!

Hello all! I'm new to the forum and new to hunting. My daughter has been hunting for a few years already with her Grandpa, but I just got going with it this year.

My daughter took this buck on opening day of rifle and it was my first time seeing her harvest one. I was shaking and had buck fever worse than she did and she was the one shooting!

I took mine (my first buck ever!!!) the weekend before last. Sorry, for posting "old" kills, but I just got on the forum today.

I look forward to posting, interacting, and learning with you all in the future!

Congratulations to you both! Sounds like you got bit! Lol

This was a bittersweet hunting season. I've ended up not sitting in a TN deer stand even once and my first year in 49 years without tagging a deer in TN. One nice 10pt I targeted on one property ended up being taken by a bow hunter on a bordering property before I even had a chance to hunt him. Congrats to him. On our own property we had a mega 8pt break off his entire G-2 before bow season opened, so he got a free pass this time. And there were other obstacles. Besides no luck in TN, I was blessed with the buck of a lifetime in Texas (recently posted thread, Mufasa: The Final Chapter), and in KY, one of my biggest muzzleloader bucks ever taken (below). There's a neat history and story with this guy, but I'll spare the details and just say one thing I've stressed on here before…Don't stay home just because it's bad weather! Busted this KY stud while I was sitting under an umbrella in a steady rain on December 14th.

It would take trail cam photos like those to get me out during a Dec. rain! Nice buck! Did he break off sticker? I can't see it.
What county?

Nov 20 for the 9pt
Hunted him pretty hard. He was number 3 on the shooter list. Hit the number 2 with Xbow but he lived for a few more weeks before pulling a disappearing act like my bucks usually do along with number 1 that also vanished . If they made it they will come back to the plots in a week or so from now.
The fox has been something on my list of wants for 30 plus years. 308 130ish yards. He was jumping on rats in the plot when I got him .
