2024 Live from the stand

Almost didn't come. Woke up, got dressed and walked to the kitchen sink to take my medicine. Felt a squish on the rug in front of the sink. I said well crap. Guess the dishwasher got clogged or something when she ran it yesterday. Got the water to quit leaking and wife got the floor dried up. I knew I was running about 15 mins late but decided to come on. Climbed up at 6:39. 8 does stepped out at 6:45. These 8 this morning made #300 for the year.

I believe it was this buck.

Had seen 6 does. He showed up just behind a rise about 175 yards out and was heading into the woods behind one of the groups of does. Far left corner of the plot.

Late season and hadn't killed a deer yet, guess he may may good enough. He dropped with the shot, went over on his back and kicked his feet, thought he was done, but lost sight of him over the rise after he got upright and looked to crawl. Shot felt good. About to get down and start walking that way.

Was about to climb down and another buck came out. Young pretty 6.

Just got 2 coyote not seen anything else yet. They came right over a small hill 20yd in front of me I shot the bigger first. Love the 270 pump dropped the first I'll check the second later my best is 3 at once with this rifle and today's the first day out with it.

First one is under log to right off tree

And while sitting here I thought it smells like dog sh*t ....3 feet next to me I covered it up once I found it lol

Got sleeted on. No deer seen. Was a good morning to be in God's creation. Did have 1 in our group that got a big doe.

This was my first kill using 150gr sst I loaded in the 270, I haven't been having good results before these, this was spectacular 2"exit hole at 20yd

Really been an odd season for us. Not real proud of the shot, hit him in the spine. My second daughter and her husband will be very thankful for the meat. As he lay.

Hard to believe how rundown this deer was. Here was the last minute of video of him beating a bigger antlered deer back say the beginning of December.

The other buck picked the fight, but he whooped him, probably a good one to get rid of?
