I just got my wife a CVA Scout in 350 Legend- I get decent accuracy with the Winchester Deer Season 150 XPs but am seeing some iffy reports on them on deer-- also tried the Win 180 Power Points- accuracy is not great.

So... later this week Midway will be delivering dies, along with the Sierra 155 gr .355 and the Hornady 170. I'll be loading H110, AA#9, and IMR 4227 with them and see how they do.

My question- does anyone here have any experience in the field with this Sierra 155? They seem to be a fairly new bullet and I'm not finding much info on them other load data.

Thanks!

That's too bad about the 180 Winchester rounds....I'm going to buy the same rifle for Mississippi's primitive weapon season and that round seemed to be one guys were having good success with. I'd planned to try that one and the Hornady American Whitetail with their Interlock bullet.

How far you plan on shooting?

We've got about 10 or so with a 350 legend over the past couple years.

Those Winchester copper impacts are surprisingly well. Furthest we've got was 120yd. Bullet was sticking partially out of the far side of the hide. Accuracy was about 1" or so at 100yds. Shooting out of a 16" Ruger gunsite scout.

Thanks- sorry to be late with the reply, I didn't get any notifications of replies.

Well, I won't put her in any place she'd be shooting much over 100 yards.

Good to know about the Winchester coppers, thank you.

It should be warm enough for a long-ish range session Saturday, I can wring out these 155 Sierra and 170 Hornady loads.

Now I need to find a deer lease/club actually IN Tennessee and stop wearing myself out driving back to Alabama to hunt!

I like the Hornady 165 FTX quite a bit. Nothing wrong with the 170's but the 165's expand a bit easier and seem as tough as the 170.

I'm using H110 in my 350.

Thanks- what have you seen as far as exits/blood trails or expansion/fragmentation on any bullets recovered from deer? The only experience I've had with Hornady FTX bullets is the .308 160 FTX I loaded to just under 2500 fps in .308 Win as a reduced load for my wife. None exited.

I've only used mine on hogs with 165's and 170's. A friend has used his on hogs and deer with 180 Winchesters, 170 Hornadys snd 165 Hornadys. Exits have been larger with the 165's, the one deer he had run went 25-30yds so not much of a track job. We've never had a bullet not exit with the 3 mentioned from the 350.
