Just acquired a Ruger all weather mini-14 in 6.8 spc. Haven't ever seen one before. Any experience?
I was able to get 12 boxes of SSA ammo loaded with sierra prohunter 115gr and 2 boxes of hornady vmax 110gr….. hope it will shoot ok. I'd be happy with MOA….I have the same gun, have a 2x7 Nikon scope on it. I could squeeze a 2 inch group at 100 yards with patience. Barrel heating is your enemy. I am still shooting old Silver State Armory ammo, I need to sight it in with something else but have plenty. Enjoy your gun!!
Do you have any idea what barrel twist it has? If it has 1/11, you can handload significantly hotter rounds than anything you can get in factory loads. If it's 1/10 twist, it's one of the original rifles from when 6.8spc was first developed by Remington. Most, if not all manufacturers now make them with 1/11 twist. Either way, it's a good deer round. I shoot 95 grain Barnes from Wilson Combat and they work great.
