6MM MAX

No I went with 6mm arc, only have shot it 7 times, 5 to zero and 2 to confirm, ballistics close to 243, Hornaday factory support so plenty of folks making ammo and parts, might be very close but make sure it is something that's going to have good support,

Not being able to shoot heavier than 100 gr bullets would be a no for me.

I hadn't ever heard of it till you mentioned it. Basically a 350 legend necked to 6mm. Does that sound right
yes it also uses a standard AR-15 Bolt for 556 so the head stamp is the same. 6 ARC performs better than it, but 6 ARC is not very reliable in a AR because the bolt they use has material removed since the head stamp is bigger and it causes part failures.

everyone says 6 ARC is great in a bolt gun not so in an AR platform.

6mm Max is suppose to be the Maximum Performance you can reliably get out of a small AR platform.

I haven't read there was bolt failure on factory ammo but reloaded hot could cause bolt failure, reckon the same can happen to the 6maxx? you got a link to all those articles?

i have copied an article that has some good info below. there are some youtube videos that show pros and cons between both.

Besides lee I never heard of any of those folks, which doesn't mean much as I don't reload. Speed with a little heavier bullet from the arc but I do plan to reload but only to factory specs. I have started with a cheap complete upper to see how well I will like it, have shot it very little but will get some range time after deer season hopefully. I seen that article already when I was looking to buy a arc but didn't read anything about factory ammo giving bolt failures, time will tell how well any of them work out for us shooters. Barrels have a good life span except bolt guns loading heavy and getting erosion in 3500+ rounds possibly, I didn't get it to shoot tons on plinking, I have the other upper 556 to waste $$ with lol

6 ARC is a good round with alot of support and has been around longer and it was developed by Hornady. my brother has been talking about getting it in a bolt gun and i have thought about getting this 6 MAX upper so we can compare what we like and don't like.

I have the 6 ARC in an AR platform and had zero trouble out of it. It has been great and very accurate

That's interesting. I have had zero issues with the 6arc I built. Running an aero precision 6arc/6.5 grendel bcg.

No experience with the 6 max, but the 6 arc will run 108's without issue.

I'm hoping the deer really hate it 🤣 , I have only seen 1 deer in the woods this year and it was doing over the limit, no idea what it was, Will carry it the rest of the season what ever few days that amounts to, I am going to bust something with this match bullet but going to go with the 103g Hornaday hunter when I get my hands on some.

Read on the maker of 1 AR for the 6max it would shoot 100g, made no mention of the 105g, might be bolt action ammo? Hornaday gives reloading data for gas and bolt on the arc but I have no knowledge on the 6max.
