Got a 11th birthday coming up for one of my nephews. Looking for a 7-08, thought I'd ask here before I bought new.

I'm not brand loyal but want a good decent gun that will do him right.

I bought my son a savage axis youth brand new for under $400. Seems like a decent rifle. Got my nephew a used one but paid nearly as much as new for one in good condition.

What I would like to do, get a good mid grade or better gun so it'll last a lifetime. Then I can buy a scope for it and tell him we are good on gifts for awhile.
He's a good kid so I'm not against spending a little money on him.

Look at the new ruger American gen ii. I just bought one in 7mm08 for my kids, I may use it when they don't lol.

I worked very hard to be able to own property. My dream was to "have my on place". God was kind, allowed that to happen a few years ago.
Crazy thing now, I get more enjoyment out of the land management & "Growing" deer and watching my daughter and nephews have fun.
Very very strange how it changed so quickly. I'd much rather watch them or a friend etc get excited over a deer than me kill it. Stupid as it sounds, I feel like I already killed it once I learn his moves.
I'm a weird guy, but nonetheless I'm grateful for the opportunity.

I have a Remington model 7 that came from Remington with the HS Precision stock. It's in really good shape. I bought it on Gunbroker couple years ago, and since put together a custom 7/08. I am looking for a clean 20 gauge semi auto or O/U. Browning preferred. Also nice higher end optics.

It's showing the weight of that rifle at 9.5 pounds, surely that is not correct.

No sir. It's way off. I think it's like 6 or less.

Just checked and according to bass pro it's 6.2lbs

I know where a gorgeous mint Remington Model 7 is in just that caliber. I'm talking gorgeous rifle and if your sweet talk him @buckbstr_1 may let go of it.
