8 and half foot Tiger Shark off the beach

Good on you for getting back in the horse. You ought to grab a rod and go catch one. Get a little revenge, although I reccomend catch and release. They are certainly a fun fight, and you could consider it making peace with the sharks!

It isn't uncommon at all for tiger sharks to be close to shore. Bull Sharks will even swim up rivers into fresh water.

In 1955, there was a report of a bull-shark sighting all the way up the Mississippi River near Chicago, Illinois.

About 6-8 years ago a Golfcorse Lake in Australia got flooded by the Ocean during a storm along with a bunch of Bull Sharks they have been in the lake thriving...even breeding.

There is a lake somewhere around Belize that was flooded in same manner and is full of all kinds of sharks, even hammerheads thriving and breeding. On the flight to Costa Rica when you are lowering altitude, you can see it and the pilot explained it all. Pretty cool.

Bull sharks account for more attacks than any other species but white sharks account for more deaths. Bulls are bad because they have a special gland that makes them be able to be more or less resistant to the lack of salt in water. However, that is not what causes them to have the most attacks. Bulls actually have the highest levels of testosterone compared to any other animal in the world. This makes them be perpetually pissed off and more likely to attack out of anger. That coupled with bad vision and the need to taste test things, makes for a rather dangerous creature. Still though, more folks are killed by vending machines falling on them than by sharks. So enjoy life and get out in that water!

We're down in Oak Island NC for 2 weeks. Last night was the first time the weather cooperated to run baits. I caught this bull a little after 9pm
