Got pictures of this buck in velvet but it was pretty random so I decided not to hunt him on the velvet hunt. After he shed his velvet he vanished, I moved cameras around in a very broad area but never could locate him. I finally just moved them to all the good funnels I knew about in the area and let them soak. I finally got a picture of him early November in the middle of the night. I started getting him fairly regular on 3-4 different cameras always at night. I got a daylight picture of him the evening of Nov. 21 so I decided it was time to pursue him. I hunted him every day since then and finally killed him this morning, I bounced around in my climbing stand in 2-3 different spots during that time depending on wind direction but seemed like I was always behind him, I was getting pics of him every 2-3 days but still always at night but I knew he was moving in daylight somewhere with the weather and the time of year no matter what the cameras showed. I decided I was going to pick the funnel I had the most pictures of him at and hunt it until I killed him. He came by this morning about 8:30 about 40 yards from my camera. He wasn't avoiding my cameras, they are all 10' in a tree he just didn't walk by it this morning. I just wanted to throw that in there, just because you're not getting pics of him doesn't mean he isn't there. Anyways, very thankful for this deer and to be able to do what I truly love to do and that's chase mature whitetail deer!
