Well I'm now a member of the 82nd Airborne bow crew. I picked it up Thursday but I'm already a little sick about it. These bows came out in '08 and they had a string stopper on the roller guard. They weren't the greatest in the world and for '09 they moved them and made them better. I was under the impression that you couldn't take the stopper off the '08 models and put an aftermarket string stopper on the lower thread holes. Well turns out you can...and by not knowing this, I spent $200 more for the same basic bow. The shop had an '08 and a new '09 and I picked the '09 over the '08. I could have gotten a whole setup for what extra I paid to have the '09 and to make it worse on me, I passed up a bunch of '08s on ArcheryTalk for around $475-$500.
That said though, I ended up with a 28" draw 60 pound bow. I kinda feel a little sissyfied by not having my 70+ pound ego to pat. But all things considered, after shooting it a couple of days I kinda like the 60 pounds. And when you get down to it, I'm shooting 10 pounds less than my buddies and my bow is the same speed as theirs is on 70 pounds with the same weight arrows. And lemme tell ya...I ain't even fine tuned the bow and I can tell you one thing: IT'S A TACK DRIVER. A little bit on the loudish side but it doesn't have any handshock and is a very easy to shoot bow. I picked up some limbsavers and a new stabilizer for it today but it's been raining and I ain't tried to see if it made it any quieter yet. It sounds sorta like a high powered pellet gun...it's like it as a pneumatic sound to it but when somebody else shoots it I can't hear it. I think I'll hold onto this one for a while. I can tell ya it's gonna be a 3D shooting machine and hopefully a deer killin' machine too.

I have noticed that some bows might not be louder , but they produce a different sound pitch to the shooter , while a bystander might not perceive the same noise .
