I just had a real hunter pay me a visit. Those bobcats are death on 4 legs.

Kill em all! I once saw a bobcat try to take down a fawn in my backyard. The momma doe was worthless and stood about 50 yards away watching the show! I screamed and whistled at the cat and it moved away. I went upstairs and grabbed my rifle and provided overwatch for the fawn until momma came back to get it.

They do have a season on them though .

So expensive to mount. I killed a big cat 2 years ago, shot down on it through his eye and it did minimal damage to his coat. I called around and could not find a taxidermist who would just soft tan the hide. I didn't want to waste it, I didn't want to spend much money on it and I knew if i froze it, I'd just throw it away later after hem hawing on it for a year or two.

I skinned it myself (first one ever, took entirely too long ~3 hours) and pinned it flat to a board. Then added salt and borax. It's not soft but it looks good on a wall and the price was right.

I highly recommend giving it a try instead of letting one of those sharp looking killing machines just rot in a ditch.
