I finally broke down and got my mindset on the right wavelength to measure and shim the bolt on my 457MTR. Not really much to it but I pulled up a good instructional video for moral support šŸ˜ If all my measurements and re-measurements were correct I needed a 0.005 shim to get to the .042 rim thickness of the SK S+ that I measured. Closing the bolt afterwards on one of those rounds has just barely a hint of resistance. Not bad for working with a ball peen hammer, crescent wrench, nail for a punch and carpenter's rule for measuring! šŸ˜šŸ˜†

I'll be curious iIf you see any difference in accuracy over time. Everyone around here has tried them with no change in accuracy. Their scores did not improve so they went back to no shims.

One guy put a .003" shim in his and he shot his highest card ever with his mtr and he figured he was unstoppable.

After that one card he came in last 3 matches in a row, lol.

I'm curious to see how the shims shake out as well. I have only tried the .0015 shim and it did seem to improve but I am hoping to runn a ladder test to confirm what is best once the weather ever lets up.
