My 10 year old son has taken a big interest in air rifles. He has been shooting an old gamo that I had but it isn't the best. I want to get him something good for Christmas that will be accurate. 22 cal or 177 cal is fine. I do have a stash of 177 pellets so that would help but not necessary. He is small statured so would need to fit his frame and be lightweight. He wants this for target shooting but also squirrels. Any ideas?

my neighbor has a umerex notos. I watched him drop squirrels with it no problem. It's cool, I thought about buying one to kill squirrels, but I have an air soft rifle that scatters them pretty good.

That notos is also shorter and like a carbine so might be a good fit for a youngster .

I bought a break barrel Ruger in .17 and is very accurate, scope that came with it sucked. Killed a blackbird at about 75y. Bought a 22 call Ruger, trigger sucks accuracy is only soso, 70y blackbird thumper. maybe better out there in the same price range, power is pretty good compared to .17.

Probably need to decide if you want pcp or not. More expensive but certainly worth it. Benjamin murader comes to mind. If not a pcp I got a second hand hatson 95 that is decent and would probably be a good fit
