Alabama vs Oklahoma

On 11/23/24 the college football was set correct. (I am very worried about Vandy as I send this 😂)

I agree. If Bama loses next week that could change. It'll be interesting how this team responds. I also think keeping the key players from transferring and the recruits from flipping will tell us a lot about the state of the program.
I still think DeBoer was the best hire.

The transfer portal is a fickle thing. I don't think it is a legitimate assumption that the net change in talent on any team through transfers will be positive or negative. Overall, its probably a wash. Just like recruits, fans and teams just have to trust their coaches to make the right choices.

I'd be interested to see a list of the teams that brought in the most transfers and the teams that lost the most transfers and how they are doing compared to last year. I bet it really isn't a big change.

Some states have more money, Tennessee is up there

Nick Saban was the demise of the Vols (and a whole lot of other teams/especially in the SEC). I don't see any other coach ever being as dominant as he was. Bama may not win 11 or 12 regular season games every year, but I wouldn't bet against them on being in contention for the SEC championship for the foreseeable future. Alabama is going to be fine.
Neither Nick Saban nor Alabama had anything to do with Tennessee losing to Georgia State.

It was just wishful thinking then. It may or may not be true now, but I would guess with the portal and NIL the days of dynasties are over.
I'm one of the few old fans who like the NIL stuff. It effectively killed the "recruit through the car dealership" pipeline of many schools. I'm not going to pick on anyone in particular, all bigger schools did this nonsense. NIL just gave everyone the chance to funnel money legitimately. It will likely lead to a separation of the haves and have nots into two leagues soon enough but I'm here for that too. No more patsy opponents.

I agree with a lot of that. I like parity. I like seeing big upsets. I absolutely LOVE seeing Vandy beat alabama. Yes, we all know about the car dealerships, and I'm glad there's a more level playing field now.
