College football championship is long over and next season is many months away, but I came across a statistic that I found amazing and I wanted to share it. And yes, it involves the Buckeyes. How many holding penalties did the "Slobs", Ohio State's O line, have in 2014-15? Take a guess. Over 15 games exactly two and none in their final 11 games. I call that some amazing execution and coaching. Four of the five starters return.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but holding can be called on just about every play, but is up to the officials' discretion. Some crews call it far more often than others...

That is very impressive to have so few holding penalties.

But it is true refs are human I watch A LOT of football both college and NFL, They will call holding and show the replay and I will see very little holding if any at all, But in the same game a pass rusher will come free and have a clean sack on the QB only for a O-line man to pretty much tackle him from behind and they call nothing. I have screamed HOLDING! at my T.v. so many times because it's in plain site but they don't throw a flag.

You can say the same about pass interference, They will throw a flag on something that Don't even look like PI, But the same refs in the same game will let the defender run all over the WR and it's clear PI and the refs just look at each other and do nothing.

They can't get every call right.

But either way to have that few holding calls go against you is impressive.

Maybe the slobs were coached well enough to know how to hide it?

Ed Warriner, the O line coach and now the OC, was a college baseball teammate of mine and a frat brother. He's a great coach but not that good.

There are no plays in college or the NFL where holding doesn't occur. Not one.

There is no #90 in that video. What I see is #50 dominating that poor defenseless 'Bama D lineman and driving him into the ground. If the video continued after the scenes of the crying 'Bama fans, you would see that D lineman wimpering as he limped off the field. ;). Not really (but in the NC game by about middle of the 3Q, it seemed a different Oregon defender was limping off the field after every play). OK enough. I'm living in the past. I can't wait until 9/7. I wonder if GnB is getting tickets for the Penn State game at the Shoe?

Not going to watch the video, but I didn't say #50 held on every play. It may be in the line or a WR downfield, but it's there. I do remember Alabama having a ridiculously low number of holding penalties in 2012. Don't get too excited, it's happened before.

Hah! Please let me refresh your memory. If you watch the video, you will see there is only Zeke downfield. No WR. The WR (Evan Spencer) takes out two Alabama linebackers a few yards past the line of scrimmage. And he wasn't holding. The only other guy downfield is a guy with a black and white vertical striped shirt with both of his hands straight up in the air for some reason. Maybe the guy was being robbed by Brutus the Buckeye. :)

I don't think you understand the point I'm trying to make, but that's okay. Enjoy the off-season.
