Was so excited to hit the woods this morning after seeing a couple of nice bucks recently starting to dog after some does.

Got in nice and early, got my ground setup all situated, then sat back and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally at just after nine had a spike push a small doe past me zig zagging to get away from the eager young buck.

Sat there and waited and waited some more and finally decided at 9:50 I would call it a morning. Started packing up when I heard crashing out ahead of me. Looked up just in time to see what I assume is the same eager spike pushing two does towards me, with the lead one being a decent doe. I spun around on the ground seat, grabbed my muzzle loader, all the while thinking they're not going to stop. Well, the lead doe did, slowing down to a slight trot. I got on her quickly, she slowed a bit more and turned slightly quartering away to me. It's now or never so I settled the scope, pulled the trigger and started trying to see through the smoke. What I saw surprised me. She flipped backwards, then flipped over twice and never moved again, landing about 15 feet from where she had been standing. The Hornady 240 XTP pushed by 120 grains fo 777 FFG had certainly done the job. All in all, it was probably 10-20 seconds from when I heard the crashing, till she was laying there dead.

This is my 3rd doe for the season, two with a bow and this one with my TC Omega which I had traded an old Bowtech bow for last year. I am really going to like this muzzleloader. And for those who are looking for a good bullet, that Hornady did a number on her. I'll include some phots.

This is the entrance hole. Surprisingly the exit was smaller but as you'll see, there was no shortage of a blood trail.

Here's the blood trail where she first landed, then you can see the blood where she flipped the first time.

Here's the entry. I've honestly never seen so much damage on the entry

And here's the exit. The lungs were blown all to pieces and 1/3 of the heart was obliterated. She was certainly dead quickly. I like short tracking jobs.
