and the wannabe legend strikes again

If you watch any of the restrictor plate races... there are drivers all over the track, the entire race having to "let-off" to keep from having "thier run" hit someone in front of them....JR being no different. This case, he knew he needed to be ahead of Vickers to get the lucky dog next caution. Once he was blocked, he was suppose to drift back in line.

Blocking is part of racing. He chose to dump Vickers...and that not being bad enough... in front of the entire field. People has the perception it is Jr. so things should be different.

If anyone thinks a driver will think twice about blocking JR "next time" I think JR probably has a target on his back. I would think Dale had better be the one on lookout!

I would be willing to bet, JR will not have to be dumped, or intentionally blocked, etc etc to not have a sorry year. He will scrape bottom again this year, and his crew chief will get the blame. If it wasnt for his popularity with the fans due to his Daddy's name... he wouldnt even be racing in the CUP series.

OKAY that is my sermon. Let the games begin!!!

;-)

There are just too many rules out there now. Rubbin' is racin'! Besides all the cars are built and run pretty much identical now. You got to do what you got to do.

LOL... Could you imagine the beer cans for the following 10 races thrown at Vickers if he were to wreck the 88! lol

Something I thought was interesting is how ole DW back peddled on his very first comments during the race... kept saying that is just wrong, "I dont care who you are" wonder what he was implying....lol

Chad, I wish I had those smileys I see guys on here using... I want the one where the smiley is standing next to the pot stirring it. Hey but it does make for good conversation!

anybody who wins back to back championships in the nationwide series is cup bound, i dont care who's son you are. jr is a straight up,tell it like it is guy and one of the last southern boys in the sport and if he said it wasnt on purpose i believe him. alot of people dont like him because he is dale sr boy and he takes away the attention from other drivers. thats not his fault. my point is the rain was coming and everybody was acting like it was the last lap(heck its the daytona 500), you get no breaks. it was a tense situation that ended up with vickers gettin spun only after the hit jr first and ran him off the track. blocking is one thing, but running somebody off the track is different.

oakclimber, that is some good points, except one.

Jr winning back to back 98-99 Busch Series... remember who won back to back prior to Jr?
In 1996 and 1997... he didnt do much afterwards
Back to back came again in 2004-05 Martin is in Cup like Jr, but isnt a week to week threat to win,

well you have to admit jr is a better driver than randy l. martin truex is a good driver that should have won more races than 1. on the other hand jr should have at least 10 more wins than he has,but either pit strategy or simple mistakes cost him or like kyle busch wrecking him at richmond  how many drivers are a threat to win week to week? just a few like johnson, busch, edwards. even jeff gordon is not a threat. these new cars have thrown alot of great drivers a curve, and it will take a alittle while to adapt. remember last year jr led the hendrick camp the first part of the season with the best finishes.

I would admit Jr is better than RL...but I would also think Martin is better than JR.
Even though I do not like Kyle, he is actually a threat each weekend, Jimmy, Carl are probably the other week to week threats.

It is funny you mentioned last years Richmond race where Kyle spins Jr..and you earlier said Jr is straight up and tells it like it is...JR says after the race where he got spun by Kyle that it wasnt Kyles fault, if Kyle intended to wreck him he could have earlier in the race. But people still thinks Kyle wrecked him on purpose.

Honestly, I am teasing a little. I dont mean anything by my post. I am just chatting on a forum for fun. I actually used to like Jr...just kind of worn off over the last couple of years.

Hey oak, I am glad everyone doesnt like the same driver.. wouldnt racing be even more boring than it is now?

its all in fun, i have always been an 88 fan and he just gets a bad rap sometimes for who he is. i wish he would get a speech coach though. sometimes i think he is going to scratch that beard right off his face when being interviewed lol.

I think something like this will actually be good for the sport!!! I remember when I was young, there was always someone wanting to wreck someone, or a REAL rivalry that kept you interested. Like Dale Sr./Bill Elliott....or Davey Allison/Alan Kulwicki...Dale Sr/Rusty Wallace...Dale Sr/Jeff Gordon...trust me I realize lots of rivalries revolved around Dale Sr, but he was the sport forever!!!!

passing & blocking & bumping have always been what made nascar,it'll be a truley sad day when they stop blocking as they have bumping, they already made all the cars the same & there's not much left of the old days, when the cars are so closely matched & you cant try new stuff on your car unless its "approved" it cuts down on the fun factor for all of us viewers,mike243

Mike I couldnt agree more. The viewers are starting to show their lack of interest as well. Ticket sales are largely due to the economy... but TV ratings are down, and I am sure that isnt due to the economy.

I miss the days when you had a problem post race you went to the guys face and settled it there. Not like Gordon and Matt in Bristol.. Gordon acting bad, and leaving his helmet on...lol

It looked to me like racing. Jr fans said Vickers hit him 1st and ran him off the track. Jr haters are saying he lost his temper and wrecked Vickers because he's Jr and can do that. Like stated earlier, all the drivers knew the rain was coming and was fighting for track position. How often do you see wrecks like this towards the end of a race and people call it racing.

I'm not a Dale Sr,Jr or a Vicker's fan but to me when watching the replay it looked like two guys racing hard and niether one wanted to give up and ended up starting a wreck. You can't put the blame just on one of them.

That idiot kyle bush was blocking junior and everybody else
20 laps into the race. Jr should have spun him a few times.

He had a run on vickers, was no doubt faster and vickers
drove him below the yellow.

Vickers fault all the way

This has to be both my favorite, and yet saddest comments that come of out JRnations's members mouths.

"he tells it like it is" Im sorry, I've never heard so many "umms, uhhs, and umms, ya know's, I dunno's" when anyone else "tells it like it is........... Thats a reach right there, an no one with an IQ higer than the teens is buying it

"he's one of the last southern boys in the sport" ? Heh?
You either need an Atlas, a compass, a history lesson or a reality check (Im guessing the latter). LOTS of drivers come from "The South" as if that was somehow a guage of their potential. Only a JR fan could come up with such a concept, or the unbelievably unimportant self found statistics (cause not even Nascar would keep track of such things like "he led the Hendrick cars early in the year) they bring up when trying to promote their reasons for being almost in love with such an average driver.

But hey, you wanna hitch your wagon to that fading star? Go right on ahead, but just so you know, the thud is gonna hurt, and it ain't far away!

:D
