Anyone else coach their kid's team?

My oldest daughter is now 21, and I started coaching when she was 6.

So, this will be my 15th year coaching a girl's softball team and/or basketball team. I even did two teams when my middle daughter was playing softball also.

My youngest daughter is now 11, and I can see the end in sight. Not sure how I will act having a turkey season not having to juggle practices/games.

Our games begin in three weeks, and we are scrambling trying to practice. The weather isn't being to cooperative.

Anyone else coaching or helping? If not, and your kids are playing, I would advise that you offer the coach to help. They can always use help with practices, etc., even if it's just shagging balls.

I'm helping coach my daughters tball team. Last spring I didn't and didn't feel like the kids were being taught well so I've volunteered to be an assistant since. And probably will until I can't

Big or small, kill em all

I coached my daughter's team last year. She moved up to 7-8 year old this year and they already had coaches. I asked to be an assistant or to help out but was told none needed, guess I'll be sitting on other side of fence this year. At least I won't have the drama of parents to deal with this year

I coached my son's second grade basketball team this year (also coached his first grade team last year). Not sure I can next year because of work but want to again. I help with his baseball team.

My son is 12 and is playing his 11th season (fall and spring) and this is my 10th season to coach. Its rewarding and frustrating all at the same time. I try to stay off of my son too much and let the others do that. Kids normally react to their parents differently than they do the other coaches so we kind of try and stay true to that. At least that's my experience.

I coached when my daughter was little, and our county middle school softball. When she moved to high school I gave it up. She's a junior now and I have found I enjoy sitting on the other side of the fence.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I was too hard on my oldest, and I learned my lesson.

I have mellowed a lot over the years. I finally learned that they don't really care or will remember what their won/loss record was, but if they had an enjoyable experience.

Exactly, couldn't agree more with both post.
